Biospheres Exhibit & Programming

  • HotBed Gallery 723 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, PA, 19106 United States (map)

HOT•BED is pleased to present Biospheres, an exhibition by visual artists, Marguerita Hagan and Ana Vizcarra Rankin. Curated by James Oliver Gallery, Biospheres is a conversation about the extraordinary complexities of the known universe. Though each artist works within a different medium (drawings, paintings, mixed media and ceramic sculptures), they each make art that seeks to visualize what has enabled life to thrive for eons. The dynamic spirit of their work gives a visual voice to the wonder, responsibility and necessity of interconnected life.

Biospheres is open by appointment and safely timed walk-ins March 20 - May 8, 2021. Opening reception March 20, 6-9 pm.

Closing reception May 8, 6-9 pm.

Gallery and creative lifestyle space HOT•BED will be hosting an exciting collaboration and public event with Pedego Electric Bikes.

About this Event

On Saturday, April 24th, gallery and creative lifestyle space, HOT•BED, will be hosting an exciting collaboration and public event with the regional distributors of Pedego Electric Bikes. From 1–6pm, gallery visitors (723 Chestnut St Floor 2) are invited to take Pedego’s innovative e-bikes for a spin.

This event is in conjunction with HOT•BED’s ongoing exhibition, Biospheres, which aims to inspire a vision of a future biodiverse Earth. Featuring work by Marguerita Hagan and Ana Vizcarra Rankin, Biospheres reminds us that we have a communal responsibility to our environment and must take action now. Electric bikes are zero emission vehicles that won't contribute CO2 to the atmosphere, producing zero air pollution. In fact, using e-bikes can prevent an estimated 500 pounds of carbon emissions from being released into the environment.

HOT•BED is thrilled to team up with Pedego for this event and to help encourage a brighter future and a healthier atmosphere, while increasing the bike rider’s fun factor. Pedego encourages people who never thought they’d ride a bike again to increase their health through exercise. Riding bikes is fun again!

The event will include a gallery reception 6-8pm, with Q&A from gallery owner Bryan Hoffman and owner/president of Pedego Richard Bastian at 7pm. Space is limited and riders must be 16+.
