Please join us at this Philadelphia gem, The Wagner Free Institute of Science. Click link to see event posting on Wagner website. I am excited to present at this special evening with all who can come to share my work as a launching pad to exploring the incredible 19th century collection inspiring your drawing.
Float in the currents of creativity through our marine specimen collection with guest artist Marguerita Hagan. Draw inspiration from branched and bumpy corals, tangled-limbed basket stars, spiny sea urchins, sturdy cup sponges, and other diverse sea life. Marguerita’s La Mer series magnify the largest yet least-known element of our planet, the ocean. She will share her fluid process from sculpting La Mer's scientifically accurate Micro Sculpture to playing with the architecture of sea life in her organic Marine Abstracts series. See some of Marguerita’s works in person and the marine treasures that inspired them in our 19th-century cases. Then, move into a deep dive with Marguerita’s support, capturing a species you love on paper in literal detail orconceptual exploration. As you draw, enjoy refreshments and a cocktail crafted for this art and science adventure. Jacques Cousteau said, “People protect what they love.” This is an invitation to fall in love.
Basic drawing materials will be provided, or bring your own dry media (wet media are not allowed in the museum).
